Susanne Sheridan

June 27, 1969 — December 4, 2017

SUSANNE M. SHERIDAN,
48, of Cass City, died Monday, December 4, 2017 in U of M Hospital, Ann Arbor following a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. She was born June 27, 1969 in St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Grosse Pointe to Kuno Wilhelm and Irmgard Elisabeth (Schulte) Fernholz. She married Bruce Allen Sheridan August 10, 2001 at home in her parent’s garden.

Susanne attended Grosse Pointe High School South and then graduated from Our Lady Star of the Sea High School in Grosse Pointe Woods. Sue attended Mary Grove College in Detroit studying Social Work graduating with honors. She worked as a Pharmacy Tech in the Detroit area for ten years. Sue was chosen the German American Queen in 1990 proudly serving the Detroit area for a year. She was a member of the German American Club in Detroit now Sterling Heights and a member of the Kinder Chor of German House, Detroit. Susanne was honored to work in the Brightmore Community in Detroit as a social worker for nearly seven years.

After her marriage to Bruce, they moved to Unionville. There she began Sociable Sue’s Day Care. This was an appropriate name as Sue was very giving, social, medically knowledgeable and took wonderful care of the children in her charge. Sue was an advocate for children and terminally ill people. She provided a hopeful path for others with Cystic Fibrosis for a possible longer than normal life expectancy. Susanne was a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Our Lady Consolata Parish. Susanne and Bruce are partners with Michael Zehnder working to create products to improve the quality of life for those with PICC lines and ports. Sue enjoyed cooking, loved music (taking voice lessons from age 13 for as long as her health allowed), and especially loved spending time with Roseliegh and Austin.

Susanne is survived by her husband, Bruce; children: Anita (David Gillis) Hill of Bay City, Lukas Sheridan of Cass City; grandchildren: Roseliegh, Austin and the third grandchild due in July; mother, Irmgard Fernholz of Cass City; brother, Rick (Jane) Fernholz of Gilford, NH; sister, Adrienne (John) Mikkola of Largo, FL; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Kuno W. Fernholz.
