BARBARA ANN SHOTWELL-ABBE,
78, formerly of Elkton, died following a lengthy illness Monday, April 8, 2019 in Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis. She was born February 4, 1941 in Pontiac to Herman Ervin and Marjorie Elizabeth (Blackmer) Esckelson. She married Harrison Dewayne Shotwell August 11, 1962 in Fairgrove. He died December 16, 1984. She married Daniel Richard Abbe, Sr. June of 1991.
Barbara worked in the sewing room in Caro Regional Center for a brief time. She loved to bake, especially chocolate chip and sugar cookies. Barbara worked as a baker for Duncan Donuts and Bess Eaton in New Britain, CT. She attended Living Word Worship Center of Cass City for many years with her husband Daniel.
Barbara is survived by her children: John (Lorraine) Shotwell of Edwardsburg; Steven Shotwell of Florida; Amanda Ross of Deford; step-children: Elaine (Roy) Kreszewsky of Munger; Daniel (Cheryl) Abbe, Jr. of Elkton; Esther (Arnold Fritz) of Owendale; Melody (Dave) Deming of Pigeon; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Robert (Lynn) Esckelson of Reed Spring, Missouri; Janice Miller of Clifford; James (Chris) Healy of Thomaston, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Harrison Shotwell and Daniel Abbe.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Pastor Mark Harriman of Kingston United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Kingston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kingston United Methodist Church.
