Velma P. Starr, 84, of Cass City, died Tuesday, December 10, 2002 Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City. She was born November 26, 1918 in Sandusky to George and Clara (Sisco) Thomas. She married Raymond W. Starr July 27, 1951. He died April 8, 2002.

Velma was a housekeeper for many years working in Midland before marrying Raymond. She then worked at the Provincial House in Cass City for many years and helped Raymond on their dairy farm. Velma was an active member of the Mooretown Brethren In Christ Church.

Velma is survived by her daughter, Darlene Kay (David) Evans of Brookhaven, PA; grandsons: Tyler Dykes, Zachary Dykes and Jordon Dykes; sisters, June (Otis) Terwilliger of Freeland, Fern Thomas of Midland; brother-in-law, John (Georgia) Starr of Santa Anna, CA; sisters-in-law, Norma Starr of Sandusky, Jean Starr of Macomb Township, Marian Sisco of Palmyra, PA; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Ray; daughter, Clara Ida; siblings: Ida Sisco, Edith Bergman, Esther Wyse, Marion Gerstenberger, Bessie Gerlicki, Flossie, Blanch, Walter and Ralph Thomas.

Funeral services held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2002 Mooretown Brethren In Christ Church with Rev. Ron Slabaugh of Fairview Brethren in Christ Church of Lebanon, PA officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made Mooretown Brethren In Christ Church or the Gideons.
