DENNIS MORGAN STEELE
74, of Deford, died following a brief illness, Friday, November 5, 2021 in Covenant Medical Center Cooper Campus, Saginaw. He was born January 25, 1947 in Cass City to L. Morgan and Marguerite (Ensign) Steele. He married Diana Carol Simms on July 19, 1980 in Saginaw.
Dennis graduated from Kingston High School in 1965 and went to trade school to become a paramedic and an electrician. He went to work for Saginaw Steering Gear as an electrician, where he advanced to master electrician. For a time, Dennis taught electrical classes at the Tuscola County Tech Center. Later, he began a twenty-year career as an electrician with the National Park Service and was the facility manager at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Several promotions allowed him to live and work in Maui, Hawaii; Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in Iowa; Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona; and North and South Manitou Island in Michigan. He finished his career back with the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Dennis was also a professional drag racer and dragster racer. He also learned to paint with Bob Ross; he took classes and become an instructor in the Bob Ross style of painting. Dennis truly lived life to the fullest.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Diana; children, ”the super seven”: Tammy (Ken) Distelrath of Bay City, Bryan (Amy) Huizar of Vassar, Angela Huizar of Traverse City, Michael Huizar of Traverse City, Pamala Steele of Kingston, Justin (Stacey) Huizar of Kalamazoo, Dennis (Angie) Steele, Jr. of Deford; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his parents, Marguerite and James Caswell of Caro; brother, Arthur (Susan) Steele of Brighton; sister, Alice Spencer of Kingston; aunt, Marilyn Ensign of Kingston; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, L. Morgan Steele; grandparents: Morgan L. (Ida) Steele, Leland (Alice) Ensign; brother-in-law, Allen Spencer; niece, Lisa Webb.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Sam Leppert, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Memorials may be made to Diana Steele for the discretion of the family. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Steele will be: Jeremy Distelrath, Dakota Distelrath, Devin Gauthier, Elijah Gauthier, Cameron Steele, and Justin Zyrowski.
