Janet M. Thomas, 71, of Owendale, died due to surgery complications Saturday, August 8, 2015 in McLaren Bay Region, Bay City. She was born August 17, 1943 in Cass City to Kenneth and Evelyn (Dodge) Russell. She married Kenneth Lee Thomas August 19, 1962 in Unionville. He died May 23, 1998.
Janet graduated from Cass City High School. She was a loving Mom and homemaker. Over the years Janet worked at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon in housekeeping and recently retired from Birchview Ranch Adult Foster Care home in Pigeon. Janet enjoyed sewing, oil painting, crafts and knitting. She made blankets for every grandchild and made prayer shawls and premie caps for local hospitals. Janet enjoyed taking trips with her children. She was very involved in her grandchildren's lives attending graduations, dance recitals, plays and sporting activities.
Janet is survived by her children: Paul (Julie) Thomas of Sebewaing, William Thomas of Sebewaing, Cindy (David) Keyser of Cass City, David (Hollie) Thomas of Saginaw; grandchildren: Brandon (Laura) Thomas, Chyanne Thomas, Cory (Alisha) Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Alexander Kundinger, Grace Keyser, Elisabeth Keyser, Isaak Keyser, Kennedie Thomas, Tucker Thomas, Gabby Jones, Janay Jones, Katy Jones, Reigen Ryan, Jessica (Michael) Peterkin, Sara (Zachary) Pope, Jordyn Heredia, Deivin Vermeesch; great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Jalyn, AnnaLeigh, Bryson, Mariha, Mia, Hannah, Ethan; sisters: Bev Smith of Caro, Linda (Roger) Trisch of Caro, Donna Sprague of Caro; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a great grandson, Dallas.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church Caro with Rev. Dorothy Thon officiating.
