 THOMAS HENRY WALTHER

Thomas H. Walther, 82, of Cass City died Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in MyMichigan Medical Center of Saginaw with his family by his side. He was born January 6, 1943 in Flint to the late Leonard and Regina (Jacobs) Walther. He married the love of his life, Nadara Thiede on June 10, 1977. She died on March 11, 1989. He married Linda Doherty on July 4,1991 and she died on October 7, 1991.

Tom graduated from Clio High School in 1961 and went straight to work at Walther Farms. He was part of the second generation, along with his brothers, that helped the family-owned organization grow. After retiring, Tom could often be found tending to his beautiful property, including his fruit and nut trees and his food plots for the wildlife. From the fruits of his trees, he made his own fresh apple juice. He also enjoyed canning sauerkraut and tomatoes with his family. Tom treasured spending time with his family, and traveling to see them was never a problem. As an avid outdoorsman, Tom loved to hunt deer, elk, and bear with his family and close friends. He recently harvested a Michigan black bear while on a hunt in the Upper Peninsula with his nephews. Tom was an airplane pilot and owned his own plane. He was a devout Catholic and as a member of Our Lady Consolata, Cass City and the Central Thumb Knights of Columbus, was actively committed to his faith.

Tom is survived by his grandchildren: Steven (Heather) Walther of Cass City, Lauren (Andrew) Holmes of Tustin; great grandchildren: Wyatt, Gracelyn, Nadara, Alana; siblings: Bob (Sue) Walther of Clio, Darrell (Diane) Walther of Clio, Ruth Ann (Victor) Ill of Millington, Mike (Kathy) Walther of South Bend, IN, Leonard (Jan) Walther, Jr. of Cass City, and many dear nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Steve Gregory Walther; sister-in-law, Karen Walther.

Funeral mass held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 in Our Lady Consolata, Cass City with Fr. Robert Pare’ officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Walther: Steven Walther, Andrew Holmes, Ethan Healy, Gary Walther, Jeremy Walther, Dave Walther and honorary pallbearer, Wyatt Walther. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cass City Gun Club to support the Cass City Youth Clay Target League.
