JAMES ALLEN "JIM" TUCKEY,
91, of Cass City, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in his home with his loving family by his side. He was born November 10, 1923 at home in Cass City the first of five children born to Leslie Clair and Florence Marion (Wanner) Tuckey. He married Lillian O'Dell on March 31, 1944. She died March 15, 1946. He married Wanda June Tuckey August 23, 1947 in Exeter, Ontario. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Jim was a crop farmer and dairy farmer. He was a very active, devoted member of Cass City Missionary Church. Jim was instrumental in building the current Cass City Missionary Church doing much of the wiring and plumbing. He also served as church trustee. He was a member of MMPA. Jim was a pilot and enjoyed flying his Piper J4E. Jim, along with Henry Doerr and Luke Tuckey, started Tuckey Block. He was one of the first people to bring a wild Mustang herd into the area. At one time, Jim drove a herd of cattle through the center of town. He enjoyed horseback riding, canoeing, gathering mushrooms, fishing, hunting turkey and deer. In his later years he enjoyed woodworking and helping Wanda with her quilting. Jim was a consultant for his boys when they needed help or advice. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda; children: Judy (Doug) Hall of Cass City, Jim (Shirley) Tuckey of Cass City, Scott (Rose) Tuckey of Caseville, Jeff (Jan) Tuckey of Cass City, Debbie (Keith) Hake of Phoenix, AZ, Phillip (Marci) Tuckey of Vienna, Austria, Kathy (Dave) Collins of Mesa, AZ; 21 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren. He will also be missed by sisters: Ruth (Joseph) VanAcker of Cass City, Betty Caudell of Davison, Esther (Jerry) Freed of Ashland, OR; sisters-in-law: Carol Tuckey of Cass City, Fonda Doyen of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by infant daughter; brother, Mark Tuckey; brothers-in-law: Warren Kelley, Lee D'Arcy, Fred Caudell.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Cass City Missionary Church with Dr. Phil Burkett officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Tuckey: James A. Tuckey, Brent Hall, Bart Hall, Blake Hall, Gregory Tuckey and Nathan Hake. Memorials may be made to Cass City Missionary Church.
