BARBARA MAE URBAN,
86, of Cass City, died following a long illness Thursday, April 10, 2014 in her home with her family by her side. She was born December 31, 1927 at home in Grant Township to Clarence and Leanora (Whidden) Shantz. She married Floryan Joseph Urban June 7, 1947 in Bay City. He died January 31, 2014.
Barbara graduated from Owendale High School. She helped run the family dairy farm along with her husband. Barbara loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed doing crafts such as crewel and embroidery and working in her flower gardens. Barbara also loved animals especially her cats and she enjoyed watching the birds these last few years.
Barbara is survived by her children: David (Nancy) Urban of Gagetown, Kathy Gerber of Marlette, Cynthia Bimberg of Bay Port; grandchildren: Todd (Vickie) Urban, Ann (Chris) Zettel, Joe (Kimberly) Urban, Jennifer Gerber, Kari Gerber, Brian Gerber and fiance, Ashley Langley, Michael (Jennifer) Prich, James Prich and fiance, April Langley, Cindy Harder; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Aileen Burzynski of Bay City; sister-in-law, Loretta Shantz of Gagetown; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Walter Shantz; son-in-law, Kenneth Bimberg.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Sr. Maria Dina Puddu MC of St. Pancratius Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in Grant Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Urban: Todd Urban, Joseph Urban, Michael Prich, Brian Gerber, James Prich and Cindy Harder.
