JOYCE ELAINE VENTLINE,
82, of Cass City, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit. She was the first of three children born to Kenneth and Beulah (Winchester) Hobart February 1, 1932 in Gagetown. She married Clarence Valentine Ventline July 11, 1987 in Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church.
Joyce was the owner and manager of the H & W Dairy Bar Restaurant in Fairgrove for two years. She worked at McLaren Bay Region Hospital (formerly Bay Medical Center) in Bay City as a ward clerk for two years. She retired from Caro Regional Center after 16 years as a Resident Care Aid. Joyce was a member of Sutton Sunshine Methodist Church and their Woman's Society. She loved listening to the choir and singing in church. Joyce enjoyed working in her flower garden, sewing, cooking and traveling. She was a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Fairgrove. When her daughters were young Joyce made clothes for them and matching outfits for their dolls. She also crocheted beautiful afghans. Joyce was a loving Mom and Grandma and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Clarence; son, Gary Hamilton of Honolulu, HI; daughters: Tamara (Martin) Andersson of Caro, Karen (Richard) Williams of Caro, Mary (Bill) Hunt of Plymouth, IN, Randy (Linda) Ventline of Covington, LA, Kathy (Mike) Dukelow of Fairgrove, Darren (Joy) Ventline of Lapeer, Chris (April) Ventline of Ortonville; grandchildren: Stephanie (Edmund) Woodward, Shawn Talaski, Adam (Amanda) Talaski, Joshua (Kayla) Downing, Kyle (Karina) Downing, Niklas Andersson, Erik Andersson, Jessica (Josh) Ciesla, Lucas Ventline, Summer Ventline, Roger Snore, Brittany Ventline, Julia Ventline, Nicole Newman, Tim Hunt, Danny (Lisa) Hunt; 16 great grandchildren; brothers: Kendall (Kathryn) Hobart of Lutz, FL, Marvin Hobart of Cass City. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Simon Williams; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hobart.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Dorothy Thon of Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Ventline: Niklas Andersson, Erik Andersson, Shawn Talaski, Adam Talaski, Joshua Downing, Stephanie Woodward.
