Marion Mae Weltin (Meininger)

April 8, 1936 — October 27, 2020

MARION MAE WELTIN,
84, of Cass City, died following a lengthy illness Tuesday, October 27, 2020 in Courtney Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab Community of Bad Axe. She was born April 8, 1936 in Pigeon to John and Eva (Follman) Meininger.

Marion graduated from Cass City High School in 1954, moved to Ubly in 1957 and worked on the family farm. She quickly developed a reputation as a hard worker. Marion was a cook for the Charmont in Cass City and was later employed by General Cable and Sebewaing Industries. Through it all, she always maintained her duties as a homemaker. Marion enjoyed baking and was a great cook. Family and friends looked forward to her Christmas cookies and nut roll. Marion was a devout member of both St. Agatha and St. Pancratius Catholic Churches. Quilting was one of her favorite hobbies and she made many quilts as gifts. Marion always had a good time trying her luck in the casino with her friends. She loved listening to polkas.

Marion is survived by her (and the late Calvin Weltin’s) children: Mary Ihrke of Tulsa, OK; Darrell (Bernice) Weltin of Ubly; Gordon Weltin of Ubly; Doris Burkhart of Tulsa, OK; Joe (Carol) Weltin of Ubly; Maurice Weltin of Cass City; Sandy Hendrian of Cass City; nine grandchildren: Toni (Nate) Johncour of VA; Melissa (Jeff) Atkinson of OK; Blake Ihrke of OK; Jennifer (Chris) Sonnenberg of OK; Daniel Burkhart of OK; Marshal Weltin of NC; Bryce Weltin of MI; Roman Weltin of MI; Darrell (Katie) Weltin of Ubly; Margaret (Eric) Pawlosky of Lake Orion; Daniel (Brooke) Weltin of Bad Axe; Jordan (Bri)Hendrian of FL; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, John (Agnes) Meininger of Gladwin. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ann (Ed) Bumhoffer.

Memorial mass held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Agatha Catholic Church of Gagetown with Rev. Theo Nnabugo officiating. Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery, Gagetown. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church or family discretionary fund c/o Sandy Hendrian. Friends may share memories, prayers and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com. Attendees are kindly reminded to wear a mask or facial covering and practice social distancing while in the church.
