Jay Wisenbach

April 2, 1926 — April 17, 2015

Jay D. Wisenbach, 89, of Cass City died following a short illness Friday, April 17, 2015 in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City. He was born April 2, 1926 in Caro the fourth of six children born to Edward and Esther (More) Wisenbach. He married Monica Lapratt who died April, 1977. He married Mary McMeans October 14, 1977 in Colling Nazarene Church. She died March 7, 1995. Later Jay married Shirley Karr November 30, 1996 in Salem United Methodist Church.

Jay worked for Forbes Lumber in Caro, then worked 14 years as a Foreman at Vassar Foundry. He worked as a bus driver then custodian for Caro Community Schools for over 22 years retiring in 1988. Jay enjoyed playing the accordion and mouth organ in a band for many years playing for many area weddings and events. He was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church. Jay enjoyed music and dancing. He and Shirley met at a dance when he asked her to enjoy a slow waltz with him. He loved to camp, work in his yard and go to garage sales with Shirley. Jay was helpful in church helping all the ladies with their coats and made the best coffee for the Dorcas dinners.

Jay is survived by his wife, Shirley; step-children: Linda (David) Reed of Deford, Cindy Karr of Cass City, Cheryl (Dr. Jeffrey) Chambers of Durham, NC; step-grandchildren: Sandy (Ian) Marovsch, Dawn Karr, Jeremy Reed, Timothy (Lorena) Karr, Carissa (Chris) Chirdon, Jeffrey "JJ" Chambers, Jr.; step great grandchildren: Tristan, Alessandro, Ashlyn, Nathan, Trinity; sister, Doris Seibel of Sebewaing; sisters-in-law: Dolores Wisenbach of Caro, Letha Wisenbach of Caro; nieces and nephews: Kelly, Curt, Cindy, Ryan, Alan, Eddie and Gail. He is also survived by Shirley's family: Glen Wright of Imlay City, Vera (Robert) Balwinski of Lorton, VA, Irl (Yolanda) Wright of Fort Worth, TX and their families. He is preceded in death by brothers: Harold, Delano, Martin and Keith; sister-in-law, Joan Sales; step-son, Donald James Karr; step-great grandson, Bradley; brother-in-law, Carl Seibel.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 in Cass City United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jackie Roe officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Fairgrove. Pallbearers for Mr. Wisenbach: Alan Wisenbach, Nelson Rhodes, Carl Seibel, Harold Shamka, Eddie Wisenbach and Kevin Nicholas. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church, Revive Ministries or Cass City VFW Post #3644.
