WILLIAM “BILL” J. ZINNECKER
85, of Cass City died following a lengthy illness Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe. He was born October 22, 1935 in Cass City to John Henry and Neva (Cones) Zinnecker. Bill was baptized April 1, 1945. He married Shirley Mae Buschlen April 21, 1962.
Bill graduated from Cass City High School in 1953 and went to work for C. R. Hunt Construction. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 and returned to work for C. R. Hunt. In 1965, he joined the United States Postal Service. Bill retired as the Cass City Postmaster in July 1992. In his youth, he was a state champion showman in sheep and market steers. During his lifetime, he enjoyed many hobbies including: motorcycle riding and racing; reading, hunting, traveling and dining out. Bill was an active member of Cass City United Methodist Church.
Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister, Kathreen (Bruce) Hunt and her daughters: Tammy (Mondo) Normile; Heidi (Robert) Barragan; Krista (Anthony) Searls; several other nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Ann Buschlen; Vivian Buschlen; special friend, John Porterfield. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law: Maxine (Cliff) Stirrett; Grace (David) Reibling; brothers-in-law: Glenn (Marie) Buschlen; Leroy (Genevieve) Buschlen; Duane Buschlen; Calvin Buschlen; Clifford Buschlen.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Demyanovich officiating. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church. Family and friends may share memories, prayers, and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com. Attendees are also kindly reminded to wear a mask or facial covering and social distancing will be observed in the church.
